We have the great blessing of God to be parents; but we also have the great task of teaching and instructing our children well according to the word of God. Almost every month we offer a class for parents taking turns giving the class. Last month I spoke on some principles according to the book of Proverbs.
" Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
I had some basic tips to share with parents in raising children. It’s great if we start from when they are little and it’s good to know tools that help us build the lives of our children. If the foundation is based on knowledge and respect for God then children will grow building their lives in a strong way.
Teaching reverence, respect for God and what He has created for us, means respecting others and their property. As well as obedience, purity, money management, a healthy perspective on love, control of the tongue, teaching how to work, and choosing good friends.
Although it is a hard task to be parents, God has promised to be with us and help us raise our children.
‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10
"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well." Psalms 139:13-14
